Title:Method for treating asthma using SCF antibody
Inventors:Brownell, Elise; Lafayette, CA, USA
Summary:This invention describes a novel method for the treatment of asthma and eosinophilia. Provided are pharmaceutical compositions comprising anti-SCF antibodies for the reduction of eosinophilia in the lungs of mammals. Further disclosed are methods of treating asthma within a murine model, and a method for the inhibition of eosinophil infiltration to the lungs of mammals, via the inhibition of interactions between Stem Cell Factor (SCF) and SCF-receptor protein. Such interactions comprise contacting the lung tissue by intra-tracheal administration with either an antibody or antigen-binding fragment thereof, wherein the antibody, or corresponding antigen-binding fragment, binds specifically with SCF, such that the binding which is responsible for inhibiting the interaction between SCF- and SCF-receptor protein results in the successful inhibition of the antigen-stimulated eosinophil infiltration to the lung.
Abstract:This invention provides pharmaceutical compositions comprising anti-SCF antibodies for the reduction of eosinophila in the lungs of mammals. This invention also provides for methods of treating asthma and generating a murine model for asthma.
