Title:Use of collagenase in the preparation of neural stem cell cultures
Inventors:Uchida, Nobuko; Palo Alto, CA, USA
Summary:This invention describes the in vitro proliferation of a neural stem cell culture via the use of collagenase to dissociate neural stem cells. The invention relates to a method for using collagenase to dissociate neural stem cells in neural stem cell cultures when passaging aggregated neural stem cells, such that the collagenase treatment results in increased cell viability and in an increased number of proliferated neural stem cells over time when compared to other dissociation techniques such as trypsinization.
Abstract:The invention provides a method for using collagenase to dissociate neural stem cells in neural stem cell cultures when passaging aggregated neural stem cells. The collagenase treatment results in an increased cell viability and an increased number of proliferated neural stem cells over time.
