Title: | Method of decreasing radiation or radio-mimetic chemotherapy for hematopoietic pluripotent cell engraftment | Inventors: | Mardiney, III, Michael; Baltimore, MD, USA
Malech, Harry L.; Bethesda, MD, USA | Summary: | This invention describes a novel method of engrafting hematopoietic pluripotent cells with a reduced radiation dosage, after treatment of the donor with a hematopoietic growth factor. Described herein are the means of engrafting donor mammalian hematopoietic pluripotent cells in a mammalian recipient using a decreased amount of radiation, such that the donor receives at least one dosage of a hematopoietic growth factor, followed by a low dosage of radiation, after which transplantation of the hematopoietic pluripotent cells is administered to the recipient, resulting in engraftment of the donor mammalian hematopoietic pluripotent cells in the mammalian recipient using a decreased amount of radiation. | Abstract: | The present invention provides a method of engrafting donor mammalian hematopoietic pluripotent cells in a mammalian recipient using a decreased amount of radiation, comprising: (a) administering to the recipient at least one dosage of a hematopoietic growth factor; (b) subjecting the recipient to a low dosage of radiation; and (c) transplanting the donor hematopoietic pluripotent cells in the recipient, thereby engrafting the donor mammalian hematopoietic pluripotent cells in the mammalian recipient using a decreased amount of radiation. The invention also provides a method of engrafting donor mammalian hematopoietic pluripotent cells in a mammalian recipient using a decreased amount of radiomimetic compound, comprising: (a) administering to the recipient at least one dosage of a hematopoietic growth factor; (b) subjecting the recipient to a low dosage of radiomimetic compound; and (c) transplanting the donor hematopoietic pluripotent cells in the recipient, thereby engrafting the donor mammalian hematopoietic pluripotent cells in the mammalian recipient using a decreased amount of radiomimetic compound. | US Patent Website: | Click Here for Full Text of Patent | Title Number: | US6423311 | Application Number: | US1999000468727 | Date Filed: | 21/12/1999 | Date Published: | 23/07/2002 | Assignee: | The USA as represented by the Department of Health and Human Services, Washington, DC, USA |
