Summary:This invention describes a novel nucleic acid encoding the human c-mpl agonist antibody comprising Ab1, Ab2, Ab3, Ab4, Ab5 or Ab6. Central to the invention is the discovery that various forms of c-mpl agonist antibodies have been found to influence the replication, differentiation or maturation of blood cells, especially megakaryocytes and megakaryocyte progenitor cells. Pharmaceutical compounds are disclosed, as are properties of the isolated nucleic acid encoding an agonist antibody, fragment or variant thereof which binds to human c-mpl as described. Therapeutic applications are provided, such as in the treatment of hematopoietic disorders such as thrombocytopenia.
